Position: Waste Attendant / MR Driver

Type: Casual, ongoing position with potential to progress to full-time in 2025.

Location: Shoalhaven NSW

On Line Recruitment is looking for a Waste Depot Attendant!

Our client is a leading local government organisation that provides essential services to the community, focusing on sustainability, waste management, and customer service. They are dedicated to maintaining high operational standards and offering a safe, environmentally friendly service to all residents.

We are currently seeking multiple Waste Depot Attendants to join our client’s team in a casual, ongoing capacity. This role will initially require you to work 3-4 days per week, with the potential to progress to full-time in the coming year. As a Waste Depot Attendant, you will be responsible for maintaining the daily operations of various waste and recycling depots. This role will involve working at multiple sites depending on operational needs. You will operate MR vehicles, assist with waste collection, sorting, and recycling duties, and ensure the smooth operation of the site. A current MR or higher driver’s license is required for the role.

As a Waste Depot Attendant, you may be required to;

  • Operate MR vehicles and assist with site operations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, policies, and safety procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Open and close the gates at public opening and closing times.
  • Participate in safety briefings and identify any operational improvements.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to ensure safety and operational standards are met.
  • Assist with the transfer area, weighbridge/gatehouse, buy-back centre, and garden organics services.
  • Perform manual separation of recyclables and work with mobile plant and high-tech sorting equipment.
  • Assist with street and park litter bin pick-ups
  • Work with heavy vehicles, earthmoving plant, and support the rehabilitation of closed landfills.

What we are looking for in a Waste Depot Attendant;

To be successful in this role, there are a few things we are looking for:

  • Current MR (Medium Rigid) or higher driver’s license.
  • Willing to work across multiple locations.
  • Previous experience in waste management, civil construction, or maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical and manual tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills, with a commitment to safety and WHS practices.
  • A current SafeWork NSW Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to operational requirements.
  • Flexible availability to work weekends and public holidays as per the roster.
