A Day in the Life of a Recruiter

A Day in the Life of a Recruiter

From clients to candidates, your recruitment agency works hard each and every day to create outstanding employment solutions. But what does an average day look like in the world of a recruiter?

In today’s post, Lucas Winton, the Business Development Manager here at On Line Recruitment and Labour Hire, shares a few of those everyday tasks, joys, and challenges.

What are the major tasks in the recruiter’s day?

The major daily focuses for a recruiter involve resourcing, client relationship management, and candidate management. During part of the day the recruiter tackles the resourcing elements which include registration, screening, interviewing, and shortlisting of candidates, seeking to narrow down the ideal matches for our open roles. Another portion of the day will entail client relationship management and sales. For this, the recruiter will communicate with existing clients, ensuring our recruiting and hiring progress is on track for their needs and providing the client with relevant updates. The recruiter will also connect with potential new clients, getting to know their employment needs and sharing what our agency can do for them. The third major focus of the day will be candidate management, which involves contacting candidates to schedule interviews, to follow up on current prospects, or to share newly available roles.

What is the best part of being a recruiter?

Recruitment brings with it energy and a fast paced work environment. This ensures that every day is exciting and has something new to offer; working as a recruiter is never boring and always provides new opportunities and challenges. Recruitment is a very people-focused position, which is a major benefit. It’s rewarding helping both business clients and candidates find great employment solutions, whether that’s matching a candidate to his or her dream job or finding a client the exact employee they’ve been looking for. Meeting those needs and achieving those goals is very fulfilling.

What value does a recruiter offer to clients? To candidates?

For clients, a recruiter provides solutions and support, taking on the work involved with sourcing, interviewing, and assessing candidates. The recruiter’s expertise and experience allows him or her to efficiently and successfully do the work that the majority of businesses will find time-consuming and challenging. In addition, the recruiter can offer candidate support and human resources related advice. Essentially, a recruiter is an excellent resource for a business.

For candidates, working with a recruiter is a way to get easily and quickly connected with job opportunities. With a deep knowledge of the industry and employment trends, as well as extensive connections, the recruiter can work on the candidate’s behalf to identify ideal positions, and give them a foot in the door. The recruiter is a great source of advice and guidance for the candidate’s career path.
